Sensory Processing and State Regulation in the Classroom

Rachel will provide an explanation of basic intake and processing of sensory intake, and what it looks like when it's successful and when it's not. Participants will develop an understanding of intervention strategies and how to incorporate them in the classroom. A variety of sample environments will be provided for attendee to use as a platform from which to work toward success for their students within their educational environments.
Rachel Morris, OTRL, is a pediatric occupational therapist who has worked with children with special needs for nearly 20 years and has done so as an OT for the last 19 years. She has worked in outpatient clinical settings as well as providing home-based therapy, and most recently, as a consultant for REACH. She has worked with a wide range of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, Downs Syndrome, ADHD/regulatory disorders, genetic disorders, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and burns among others.
